6 things that happen when you return to work during Covid-19
Coronavirus is now a truth that is so out in the world that its existence can not be denied or ignored. All that the virus demands as of now is the amount of patience that no one has ever possessed. With cases rising and people dying everywhere, here are 6 things that happen when you return to work during Covid 19. Keeping in mind all the safety measures and following all the rules and regulations that need to be followed, the offices are now open and can not be kept shut as it impacts negatively on the economy.
Before knowing the 6 things that happen when you return to work during Covid 19, let us first understand what is Covid- 19
So, What is Covid 19?
According to the World Health Organization, Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) is an infectious disease caused by a newly discovered coronavirus. Most people infected with the COVID-19 virus will experience mild to moderate respiratory illness and recover without requiring special treatment. Older people and those with underlying medical problems like cardiovascular disease, diabetes, chronic respiratory disease, and cancer are more likely to develop serious illness.
The best way to prevent and slow down transmission is to be well informed about the COVID-19 virus, the disease it causes and how it spreads. Protect yourself and others from infection by washing your hands or using an alcohol-based rub frequently and not touching your face.
The COVID-19 virus spreads primarily through droplets of saliva or discharge from the nose when an infected person coughs or sneezes, so it’s important that you also practice respiratory etiquette (for example, by coughing into a flexed elbow).
Here are 6 things that happen when you return to work during Covid 19
1. Increased Sanitization
Everywhere you’ll see sanitizers are available in the offices, at the entrances, and at your desk. There is no denying about the fact how Covid 19 has disrupted our lives and how many lives we lost to the virus, so it becomes essential in times like these to take the required precautionary measures. Sanitizers with 70% alcohol in it are known to be useful in some way to fight the virus, according to the World Health Organization. So they are being kept in the bulk and are used every time whenever the person feels the need for it. Nowadays, they are being bought in heavy numbers and are used extensively everywhere in the world. Its use in record number and sudden high demand for the product has also resulted in its high price. A lot of people started using it in an amount that it has resulted in an increased high infection in hands as well. So it is advisable to use the combination of washing your hands with soap for 20 seconds and using the sanitizer in a limited amount to eliminate the risk of developing an infection. Increased sanitization has now become an integral part of our lives and is not going until covid goes so its better to be safe from both the things, to overuse and underuse.
2. Hygiene
Hygiene has been given much importance post covid whether it’s personal or related to surroundings. A lot of people who were ignorant when it came to hygiene earlier were found actively participating in the idea of keeping surroundings clean. Hygiene became the talk of the town in the covid time and so in the offices, everyone makes sure that it should be taken care of. Regular cleaning and washing of the office space were visible and people were actively taking care of their personal hygiene as well. Covid came into our lives and changed everything. It has a lot of disadvantages of course but in some way has changed the lives of the people in a good way and taught us some good habits which we should be practising for years now. Sanitizing foods & vegetables also became a new norm. People became cautious of how they are very they are coughing and makes sure that they always wear their mask while doing it. Masks indeed become an integral part of our lives. Houses are clean. Roads are clean. Offices are clean. Sure, it’s a win-win situation for swatch Bharat campaign which our Prime Minister started on the birthday of Mahatma Gandhi back in 2014.
3. People wearing masks
Masks sure did become an integral part of our lives in this covid time. There is not a single person out there who is not wearing a mask. People in the office spaces and even at their desk are wearing mask and schooling everyone who is not. There was proof of the incident where wearing masks prevented 139 clients from getting an infection in the US. So, the incident was 2 stylists developed a fever and got themselves tested for coronavirus and they were both positive, so the search began for all the people who they came in contact with. And it was found that among 104 clients who were interviewed, 102 clients were wearing mask full time, even at the time of appointment while the rest 2 said they were wearing it part-time. But both the stylists were wearing their mask full time, a cotton double-layered mask. Mask was given very much importance during this whole time, and the reason it is still being emphasized on is because of the importance it has. It is helping in not spreading the virus and this is something we need the most at this time. Masks are mandatory everywhere and in public places, there is no entry without a mask.
4. Social Distancing
Social Distancing is another major thing that we can see everywhere and in offices. Offices are opening up for the people on alternative days so that social distancing can be practised. And if there are a lot of people to attend the meeting, the meeting is being conducted via online video conferencing platforms like zoom, etc. People in the offices are also keeping sitting at a required distance and keeping their desk at distance. Physical barriers are being set up in the offices and the trend of cubicle walls is also being followed very religiously. In the reception areas, the sitting facility is being restricted and if there is a large sitting area, the arrangements are made such that there is a 6 ft distance between the seats. If the office is big and there are places unused, a lot of people are being transported to those areas in order to maintain the social distancing thing that has been advised by all the major authorities like World Health Organization or commonly known as WHO and the government. Social distancing is another thing which is helping in the low transmission of this deadly virus and keeping people safe in some way. It is also advisable to avoid spaces which are usually very crowded.

5. Digitalization
Since the arrival of Covid-19, a lot of things has been shifted to online. From schools to yoga classes, shopping and offices, everything is digitalized these days, all thanks to coronavirus. While there has been a boost in the business of everything that is online, from video streaming platforms to video conferencing applications, but still people do miss their previous life where they can just go outside and live a normal life and no fear of getting infected by some virus. Digitalization sure had a heavy rise and a lot of people who shifted to work from home constantly needed the help of video conferencing applications to work smoothly and efficiently. Digitalization was used to help the people from all walks of life to continue with their work. After covid 19, there will be a lot of opportunities for people who are already working in the online business as it really boosted the whole industry and surely will open the door for the people who want to continue working from home and it will actually help a lot of women out there who had to manage kids, work and home all at the same time.
6. Fear and anxiety
Undoubtedly, people have fear and anxiety about how long the situation will last. There is so much we have already lost and some even lost their family members to Covid 19. An economy collapsed, jobs are no more, domestic violence cases have increased, family equations are at stake, a year is wasted for the people who wanted to give competitive exams and so on. With having lost so much, there is constant fear and anxiety amongst people what next thing they might lose if the virus situation will last for another year. A rise in the number of people developing anxiety has also been observed and the need for mental health practitioner was seen. The increase in the patients of mental health was witnessed during the lockdown but online assistance helped so many people and helped saved people from committing something major. Even though the recovery rate of our country is good but still the income sources are lost of so many people that some even died of heart attack and some committed suicide, so now the fear and anxiety is not just about the virus but about all things we are losing because of the virus.
